About the Teacher:
Hello! My name is Mrs. Amy Kinoshita. I am a former student of Forest Park Elementary, and it is an honor to be back! I attended Horner Jr. High and graduated from American High School. I earned my Bachelor's degree and Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential at CSU East Bay. I completed a master's program at CSUEB last school year and earned a Masters of Science degree in Educational Technology.
Before teaching, I volunteered in my mother's classrooms at Grimmer Elementary, Gomes Elementary, Warwick Elementary, and Ardenwood Elementary. She currently in an intervention teacher in Santa Maria, CA. I was formerly a substitute teacher for Fremont Unified School District and completed a long-term substitute position in sixth grade for Mr. Ted Hogan at Forest Park. I also have experience working with a variety of student needs through the AmeriCorps Bridging Borders Program at Slonaker Academy in Alum Rock Union School District. I worked with at-risk students to improve their literacy skills including reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, grammar, spelling, and phonics. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with a diverse population of students in an assortment of subject areas. This is my sixth year teaching at Forest Park and I'm looking forward to having another awesome year in 5th Grade!!!

Classroom Expectations:
1. Show respect. Everyone is required to show respect to one another both inside and outside the classroom. We treat each other the way we would want to be treated. We show respect by being good listeners, following directions, and raising our hands to be called on. When someone is speaking, we quietly listen and wait until it is our turn to speak.
2. Make good decisions. Every day we make many, many choices. We always try to make better choices about who to partner with in class, how we pay attention in class, and how we treat others.
3. Solve problems. This goes along with making good decisions. Making good decisions can often solve a problem. An important part of our personal growth and development is learning how to figure things out using our critical thinking skills.

About "Kacytown"
Kacy is my very cute, feisty, black cat who just turned 6 years old! My brother found her when she became separated from her mother. She enjoys getting into mischief such as knocking things down and sitting on my books when I'm trying to read them! The picture below shows how Kacy helps me write my essays... ;)
